Jakarta – The Nuclear Energy Regulatory Agency (BAPETEN) has successfully concluded its first Work Meeting for the 2026 Fiscal Year, held on February 23-24 at its headquarters in Jakarta. The meeting, themed "One Vision, One Action: Strengthening Impactful Nuclear Oversight within the Framework of the Presidential Directive," served as a crucial platform for synchronizing the agency's programs and objectives. It was attended by Acting Chairman Zainal Arifin, Deputy for Nuclear Assessment and Safety Haendra Subekti, and numerous unit heads and staff.
Acting Chairman Zainal Arifin, who officially opened the event, highlighted the meeting's role in fostering a comprehensive understanding of program planning, budget execution, and performance evaluation. Roy Candra Primarsa, Acting Head of the Bureau of Planning, Information, and Finance, set the tone by explaining the theme's essence. He stated that it demands smarter, more efficient work capable of delivering a greater impact compared to previous years, marking a clear call for enhanced performance across all units.
The agenda was packed with strategic sessions aimed at aligning BAPETEN's work with national priorities. A significant part of the first day was dedicated to financial and performance review. The strategic planning continued with presentations from core technical units. The Licensing and Inspection Unit, along with the Nuclear Assessment and Safety Unit, outlined their strategies for implementing 2026 activities. These presentations laid the groundwork for the next day's deep dives into specific thematic areas, demonstrating a clear line of sight from high-level strategy to on-the-ground implementation.
Day two of the meeting intensified the focus on collaboration and commitment. Following a strategic overview from the Office of the Secretary General, participants broke into smaller thematic groups. These focused sessions addressed strategic issues within BAPETEN's mandate, specifically covering the fields of health, energy, environment, science and technology, and institutional strengthening. This structure ensured that diverse areas of nuclear oversight received targeted attention.
A highlight of the second day was the formal commitment ceremony. In a show of unity and accountability, Acting Chairman Arifin led the signing of Performance Agreements, Annual Performance Plans, Action Plans, and Integrity Pacts for 2026. Witnessed by Deputy Haendra Subekti, this act was replicated by directors and heads of centers and bureaus, formally binding each unit to the goals outlined during the meeting.
Closing the proceedings, Acting Secretary Haendra Subekti delivered a powerful message about execution and teamwork. He reminded participants that "dreams must be accompanied by action," urging everyone to refine their presented plans and work collaboratively to achieve shared objectives. The successful conclusion of the work meeting underscores BAPETEN's reinforced commitment to providing robust and impactful nuclear oversight across Indonesia, in full alignment with the president's strategic directives for the year.
