Google Adds New Feature To Create Events In Calendar Directly From Gmail

Tuesday, 18 Mar 2025

Google now makes it easier for users to add events to Google Calendar directly from Gmail. With the help of Gemini, the system will automatically detect the content related to the schedule in the email and display the 'Add to calendar' button.

When the button is clicked, a confirmation panel will appear on the side of the screen to confirm the event details before adding it. This feature complements the previous ability that allowed users to ask Gemini about schedules in Google Calendar.

Currently, the feature is only available in English and on the web version of Gmail. However, the 'Add to calendar' button will not appear for emails that automatically extract events, such as restaurant or flight reservations.

In addition, events created with this feature will only be saved for the user themselves. This feature does not allow adding other guests to the event.

Quoted from GSMArena, Wednesday (12/3/2025), the rollout of this feature has begun and is expected to be completed in mid-April. However, not all users can access it.

Only Google Workspace Business and Enterprise customers, as well as Gemini Education, Gemini Education Premium and Google One AI Premium users can enjoy this feature.
