A healthy lifestyle should not be postponed until adulthood. In fact, establishing healthy habits early on is crucial for creating a strong, active, and productive future generation. A balanced diet, regular physical activity, and an awareness of the importance of maintaining health must be instilled from a young age to become a natural part of children's and adolescents' daily lives. When adopted early, these habits not only prevent various non-communicable diseases but also support optimal growth and development, academic achievement, and a better quality of life in the future. One concrete step to promote healthy lifestyles among Indonesian youth is the 'Si Paling Megang' campaign held in Samarinda on April 26, 2025. This event, organized by the Samarinda City Health Office with the support of the Indonesian Ministry of Health and the World Food Programme (WFP), successfully reached over 150 teenagers. The activities included fun events such as a healthy walk, a talk show with pediatric specialist Dr. Joko Purnomo Heroanto Sp.A, and Zaynna (a sports enthusiast and Kaltim Tourism Ambassador 2021), who shared insights on the importance of balancing physical activity with nutritious food consumption. 'The Si Paling Megang roadshow aligns with our efforts to bring health services closer to the community, especially the youth. Currently, non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, and stroke rank third highest in East Kalimantan. We see the significant role of events like this in inspiring teenagers in East Kalimantan, particularly in Samarinda, to adopt healthy lifestyles from an early age, starting with a balanced diet,' stated Dr. H. Ismid Kusasih, Head of the Samarinda City Health Office.
