The Ministry of Health is working to increase the Healthy Adjusted Life Expectancy (HALE) to 65 years, from the current 63 years, in the preparation of the Health Sector Master Plan (RIBK) 2025-2029 In a meeting with Commission IX of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin said that HALE is the age range in which a person is expected to live healthily. Currently, he said, the life expectancy of the Indonesian population is 74 years, but the HALE figure is 63 years, so after the age of 63, residents are sickly. According to Budi, this needs to be considered to ensure a better quality of life, so that residents can live long but do not suffer in terms of their health. The RIBK vision, he said, is "a healthy and productive society for Indonesia Emas 2045". The vision is divided into six strategic targets, including a healthy society, a healthy lifestyle community, good, fair and affordable health services, and advanced health technology. "So, there are these indicators, which are translated into 42 work indicators," he said. He also mentioned that in addition to increasing HALE, a number of targeted indicators are Life Expectancy (UHH) increasing from 72.13 years to 75.40 years, the Universal Health Insurance (UHC) service coverage index to 62 from the original 55, and the total birth rate to 2.10 from the original 2.14. Of the 42 indicators, he said, some will be distributed to other ministries and institutions, considering the cross-sectoral nature of the problem. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), he said, the Ministry of Health only handles 30 percent of stunting handling, while the other 70 percent is handled by non-Ministry of Health. He gave an example, on the issue of stunting, early marriage greatly affects the risk of children being born with that condition, while the Ministry of Health cannot regulate or prohibit early marriage. Therefore, his party is working with the Ministry of Religion and the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education to prevent it. "Stunting will occur if infections are caused by poor sanitation. Poor sanitation is more appropriate for the Minister of Public Works," he said.
