During the first semester of 2025, KAI Commuter recorded a positive achievement, with total ridership reaching 166.4 million people for its Greater Jakarta (Jabodetabek) service. This figure increased by 6.13% compared to the same period last year. This indicates that the Commuter Line (KRL) has now become an integral part of the urban lifestyle. "This figure not only demonstrates user growth, but also public trust in the Commuter Line service as a safe, affordable, and environmentally friendly form of transportation," said Asdo Artriviyanto, President Director of KAI Commuter, as quoted by Infopublik.id, Tuesday (July 15, 2024). He added that this increase even reflects a shift in the mindset of urban communities, emphasizing that public transportation is not only a solution but also a smart and environmentally conscious choice. Reduced Pollution Levels The increased use of the Commuter Line has contributed directly to reducing congestion and pollution in the Greater Jakarta (Jabodetabek) area. With a total of 1,063 daily trips operated since the implementation of the new Railway Travel Chart (Gapeka) in February 2025, public mobility has become increasingly efficient. "The Commuter Line is now the primary mode of transportation because it can address urban challenges, from time efficiency to emission reduction," added Asdo. Major stations such as Bogor, Tanah Abang, and Sudirman recorded the highest departure and arrival volumes throughout June 2025. In fact, Manggarai Station recorded an average daily transit volume of 160,000–162,000 people, making it a key mobility hub.
