TransNusa Airlines has resumed its international flight routes, now operating from Manado to two major cities in China: Shanghai and Shenzhen. Previously, these routes functioned as charter flights, but they are now set to serve passengers commercially starting September 2025. The President Director of TransNusa, Bayu Sutanto, stated that the introduction of the Shanghai and Shenzhen routes enhances Manado's position as the primary gateway from Eastern Indonesia to the international market. "The launch of the Manado-Shanghai and Manado-Shenzhen routes is part of TransNusa's commitment to expanding international access from Eastern Indonesia. We aim to provide convenient, efficient, and affordable flight options for the community, while also supporting the growth of tourism and economic relations between Indonesia and China," Bayu remarked in an official statement, quoted on Sunday (9/8/2025). He further added that this expansion initiative is part of TransNusa's dedication to fostering national tourism growth and strengthening bilateral relations between Indonesia and China, particularly in the transportation and creative economy sectors TransNusa's flight route from Manado to Shanghai will commence operations on September 8, 2025, with round-trip flights scheduled three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Departures from Sam Ratulangi International Airport are set for 14:00 WITA, arriving at Shanghai Pudong International Airport at 20:55 local time. Conversely, the return flight from Shanghai is scheduled to leave at 23:05 local time, landing in Manado at 05:30 WITA the following day. The ticket prices for the Manado-Shanghai route start at Rp3,988,000. Additionally, TransNusa will also operate the Manado-Shenzhen route, which will begin on October 2, 2025. This route will also have three flights per week, specifically on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Flights from Manado are scheduled to depart at 21:10 WITA, arriving at Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport at 01:00 local time. For the return journey, flights will take off from Shenzhen at 02:00 local time and arrive in Manado at 05:50 WITA. Ticket prices for the Manado-Shenzhen route start at Rp3,499,000. Both routes will be serviced by a modern fleet of Comac C909 aircraft, which have a capacity of 95 seats. This aircraft, according to Bayu, is designed to provide maximum comfort for passengers during medium-distance travel. The attractions of Manado, Shanghai, and Shenzhen are noteworthy. Bayu explains that Manado is recognized as a paradise for marine tourism, featuring Bunaken Marine Park, Lake Tondano, Mount Lokon, and the authentic cultural wealth of Minahasa. Meanwhile, Shanghai is a tourist destination that offers a captivating blend of futuristic architecture and classical cultural richness. "In this metropolitan city, travelers can stroll along The Bund, a riverside area that showcases the contrast between modern skyscrapers and colonial-style European buildings," he stated. If you find yourself in Shanghai, do not miss the opportunity to visit Yu Garden, a traditional garden from the Ming Dynasty era that provides tranquility through its classic garden landscapes, koi ponds, and pavilions featuring distinctive Chinese architecture. For those who enjoy shopping and urban lifestyles, a visit to the Xintiandi area is recommended. "Here, the characteristic shikumen atmosphere of Shanghai has been transformed into a modern entertainment complex filled with boutiques, art galleries, restaurants, and international-style cafes," he explained. In contrast to Shanghai's rich history, Shenzhen stands as a symbol of technological advancement and innovation in China. Known as the "Silicon Valley of China," this city has rapidly developed into a hub for various leading technology companies. Additionally, Bayu mentioned that Shenzhen also offers numerous attractive tourist destinations suitable for families. One such destination is the Window of the World, an amusement park that features miniature replicas of famous landmarks from around the globe, including the Eiffel Tower, the Taj Mahal, and the Statue of Liberty. There is also the Splendid China Folk Village, a cultural tourist site that showcases miniature versions of historical sites in China, complete with traditional art performances from various ethnic groups in the Bamboo Curtain country.
