President Prabowo Subianto highlighted the emergence of a new pattern in national economic practices, which he called "serakahnomics." According to him, this approach reflects greedy behavior that ignores the interests of the people and even has the potential to violate the constitution. "Now we are facing a new phenomenon. I thought previously there were only ordinary economic schools of thought. It turns out a new economic school has emerged, which I call "serakahnomics," Prabowo said in his remarks at the closing ceremony of the 2025 PSI Congress in Surakarta, Central Java, Sunday (July 20). He considered "serakahnomics" a form of greed that no longer cares about moral norms, the rule of law, or the interests of the nation. "This kind of model is not taught in economics universities. This is pure science about greed," he continued. Prabowo expressed deep concern over this situation. He believed that Indonesia possesses abundant wealth, yet there are still individuals who continue to cheat. According to him, their actions were not driven by logic or necessity, but rather by deeply rooted greed. "We have extraordinary resources, but the thieves are also extraordinary. They've been warned repeatedly, but they haven't learned their lesson. I'm truly concerned, because they can no longer be said to be acting rationally. This is purely driven by greed," he stressed.
