Google Messages is set to introduce a new integration with WhatsApp, enabling users to initiate video calls directly from the application. This feature was revealed through the latest update of Google Messages, which indicates the presence of a WhatsApp video call option within the app. When both the user and their contact have WhatsApp installed, a video icon will appear in the upper right menu. Upon selection, users can immediately make a video call via WhatsApp. However, this feature is limited to one-on-one conversations. According to AndroidAuthority, as of Saturday, February 8, 2025, for group chats or contacts without WhatsApp, video calls will be redirected to Google Meet. The official release date for this feature remains unknown, but it is currently in active development. It is anticipated that the feature will be available in the coming weeks.
