Apple Delays The Release Of More Advanced Siri Updates

Tuesday, 11 Mar 2025

Apple has found that enhancing the Siri smart assistant with more personalized features requires more time than initially anticipated, leading to a delay in its launch.

"We have been working on a more personalized Siri, providing it with greater awareness of your personal context and the ability to take actions for you within and across your applications," stated company spokesperson Jacqueline Roy, as reported by The Verge on Saturday, March 8.

"This will take longer than we expected to deliver these features, and we anticipate their launch next year," she added.

When Apple introduced Apple Intelligence at last year's WWDC, they showcased advanced features such as Siri's ability to understand your personal context and take actions based on what is displayed on your screen. "Siri helps our users find what they need and complete tasks quickly, and in just the last six months, we have made Siri more conversational, introducing new features like typing to Siri and product knowledge, as well as adding integration with ChatGPT," Jacqueline noted.

At that time, Apple indicated that these features would be rolled out "over the next year," with general expectations that they would be available this spring.

Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reported that Apple executives, including software chief Craig Federighi, expressed significant internal concerns that these features were not performing well or meeting expectations during their private testing.

Gurman also mentioned that individuals within Apple's AI division "believe that the work on these features could be completely scrapped" and that they might need to be rebuilt "from the ground up."

This weekend, Gurman reported that a "truly modern and conversational version of Siri" may not be available until iOS 20 at the earliest.
