Celios Reveals The Use Of AI For The Indonesian Economy

Director of Digital Economy Center of Economics and Law Studies (Celios) Nailul Huda said the use of artificial intelligence (AI) can boost the Indonesian economy. 

According to him, this is based on the trend of mobile phone usage and internet consumption which is increasing from year to year. 

"The use of technology is increasingly massive in Indonesian society. Well, in the future, AI could not only be an enabler, but also an important player to be able to increase our economic growth," said Nailul Huda in Jakarta, Monday. 

He added that AI does not only consist of ChatGPT or deepseek, but also penetrates various platforms such as digital payments and is even predicted to increase in 2025. 

Nailul also gave an example, the use of AI can make it easier to create advertisements on a platform with AI, recommend platforms for advertisements and present analysis for marketing purposes. 

"Likewise with lending, from now on, more use of AI to be able to predict whether this person is worthy of getting credit or not," he explained. 

The use of AI for several services, such as chatbots, has also been implemented in several sectors. Therefore, he proposed that training for human resources to be able to use AI needs to be done, because this can increase productivity. 

The presence of AI could cause millions of workers to be sidelined, however, this will create 97 million new jobs such as data specialists, data analysts, AU learning machines and others. 

"That will replace several jobs called data entry, administrative, accounting, and others that can be replaced by AI. Well, but there are 97 million jobs that can be entered by our workforce. That's why we need to prepare human resources that can meet the 97 million workers needed," he added. 

Based on the data he presented, the obstacle that lurks in adopting AI in the financial sector is security vulnerabilities that reach 57 percent. However, Indonesia already has regulations related to data security so now it only needs to be realized. 

He also proposed that the government present innovations that include innovations in terms of human capital and research, infrastructure, knowledge, to business so that they can become human resources that are adaptive to AI technology.
