The Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital, Nezar Patria, stated that the penetration of 5G technology in Indonesia remains significantly low. He emphasized the necessity for collaboration among all stakeholders to accelerate the advancement of this technology. Nezar also invited stakeholders, including the Indonesian Telematics Society (Mastel), to join efforts in developing a healthier telecommunications sector.

'The work is not yet complete, particularly in expanding 5G coverage, which currently stands at approximately 4.44 percent,' Nezar remarked, as quoted on Saturday (April 26, 2025). In line with the Vision of Indonesia Digital (VID) 2045, Nezar indicated that the government is building the digital sector based on four pillars of digital transformation: digital infrastructure, digital society, digital economy, and digital governance.

According to Nezar Patria, the government views VID 2045 as a compass guiding Indonesia towards a Golden Era. Regarding digital infrastructure, the government aims to ensure that 100 percent of residential areas in Indonesia have access to high-speed internet. The Ministry of Communication and Digital expects internet speeds to reach up to 100 Gbps. Concerning the digital society pillar, Nezar Patria highlighted the Ministry's efforts to enhance the digital literacy of the populace to enable more active participation in the adoption of new technologies. 'Equally important is the digital economy; we must strengthen the economic ecosystem supported by digital players and pay attention to MSMEs adopting new technologies,' he stated. In terms of the digital governance pillar, Nezar Patria underscored the significance of diligent work in the public service sector to anticipate the rapid advancements in technology. 'Technology is evolving swiftly, and we still have several digital knowledge gap programs, including in the governance sector,' he concluded.
