Google CEO Sundar Pichai hopes that his company's generative artificial intelligence (AI) service, Gemini, can be added as a built-in AI option in Apple's operating system this year, namely iOS 19. Reported by GSM Arena, Thursday (1/5), Pichai made his statement in court proceedings during the ongoing US Government antitrust trial against Google. This hope seems to strengthen the findings of several application developers who in February found some interesting code in iOS 18.4 Beta. The developers found code indicating that Apple was preparing to add Gemini as an AI option to Apple Intelligence after Apple previously partnered with OpenAI for ChatGPT. Sundar Pichai said that he had actually been negotiating about the feature with Apple CEO Tim Cook throughout 2024. He hopes that an agreement can be reached between the two companies with the hope that the agreement will be reached in mid-2025. The target target for the agreement may be set considering that the time coincides with the introduction of iOS 19 which will be carried out by Apple at its annual event every June, namely the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). If a deal is reached between the two companies, it is likely that the iOS 19 beta, which is due out in June, will see Google's Gemini as a built-in AI option alongside OpenAI's ChatGPT.
