PlayStation 5 (PS5) users can now purchase games from the PlayStation Store using a new payment method, Apple Pay. This feature allows users to scan a QR code displayed on their TV screen to complete transactions using their iPhone. According to The Verge on Saturday (October 5), users have previously been able to utilize Apple Pay via a web browser or mobile app, but it has now been added as an option alongside other payment methods on the console, such as stored credit or debit cards and PayPal. Users will now see the new Apple Pay option available during the payment process. This utilizes the QR code method introduced by Apple in iOS 18 last year and also enables users to make purchases through third-party browsers like Chrome. The PlayStation support page for using Apple Pay contains further information regarding the regions where this feature is available. There has been no confirmation yet on whether this method will be accessible in Indonesia. After selecting their desired game on the PS5, users can choose Apple Pay and then scan the code on the TV screen with their iPhone. iOS will then display a payment screen allowing users to confirm the transaction. Additionally, Apple Card users can receive a 2% cashback on PS5 purchases. Reports suggest that Apple Pay may also be introduced on the PS4 console following a future software update.
