Huawei Pura 80 Series Is Expected To Launch In July 2025

Thursday, 05 Jun 2025

Huawei is reportedly preparing its flagship smartphone, the Huawei Pura 80 series, in July 2025 to compete with competitors such as the Xiaomi 15 Ultra and the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra.

Quoting a report from Gizmochina, Sunday (1/6), this cellphone is promised to have an innovative camera system, run on Huawei's own HarmonyOS operating system, and be released to coincide with the Dragon Boat Festival in China.

This news comes from a technology leaker on Weibo, Fixed Focus Digital, who said that the Huawei Pura 80 series will open pre-order sales right after the Dragon Boat Festival in China which takes place from May 31 to June 2, 2025.

The official launch will likely take place in July 2025, with the latest HarmonyOS 5 with updates from AI features.

For the Huawei Pura 80 Ultra model, it is prepared to have superior specifications for photography and videography with a 1-inch SmartSens SC5A0CS internal sensor.

The camera sensor, developed by Huawei’s XMAGE division, promises potentially rival-beating recording capabilities with advanced light sensitivity via RYYB pixel matrix technology.

The setup is also expected to include a 2MP color temperature sensor—up from 1.6MP on the Pura 70 Ultra—for improved color accuracy.

Unfortunately, there’s no reliable information on the Pura 80 series chipset, with some speculation pointing to the new Kirin 9020.

It’s likely the phone will be exclusive to China due to trade restrictions, but its launch could still draw global interest amid Apple’s WWDC event and Samsung’s upcoming foldable phone launch in July.
