Apple May Give IPhone 17 45W Wireless Charging

Tuesday, 10 Jun 2025

Apple may provide the iPhone 17 with a wireless charging device of up to 45W, an upgrade from the charging capability provided to the iPhone 16 of 25W.

The latest certification of the Apple-made MagSafe charger device promises faster speeds and better performance offering charging support of up to 45W. This news was reported by Gizmochina, Friday (6/6), which stated that this certification was first discovered by 91 Mobiles.

The latest certification of the MagSafe charger refers to the Taiwanese National Communication Commission (NCC) database which shows two new MagSafe charger adapters. The two models consist of the A3503 model with a 2-meter cable and the A3502 with a 1-meter cable.

Although the appearance is similar to the MagSafe introduced with the iPhone 16 series, the advantage of the new device is in the technology standards used. The latest MagSafe has support for the Qi 2.2 Wireless Power Consortium standard, which was launched earlier this year.

Qi 2.2 brings stronger 50W charging, sharper magnetic alignment, and improved efficiency, and Apple’s new charger is certified to reach 45W (15V × 3A) when paired with a compatible USB PD charger.

The charging capabilities also suggest that the iPhone 17 series could potentially bring speed improvements to both wireless and wired charging.

Faster charging means less time tied to cables, a boon for users with busy schedules.

The longer 2-meter cable option also adds some flexibility for desk or bedside setups, while the 1-meter version keeps things compact.

Apple could also sell the 45W MagSafe separately from the iPhone 17 series, which is slated to debut in September 2025.

While details like pricing or charging specs for the iPhone 17 are still under wraps, the move signals that Apple is ready to compete with Android rivals that offer 50W+ wireless speeds.
