Samsung To Use AI Code Assistant To Improve Developer Productivity

Thursday, 12 Jun 2025

Samsung Electronics Co. announced Sunday (6/8) that it will start using an artificial intelligence (AI) programming assistant called Cline next month to boost employee productivity in the software development field.

Quoted from Yonhap, Sunday (6/8), in the latest internal notice, the company said it has started a beta trial of Cline for employees in the Device eXperience (DX) division, which includes the mobile phone, TV and home appliance businesses.

Cline is an open-source AI tool that helps developers write, edit and test code using simple natural language commands such as “create login function.”

Unlike conventional code assistants that can only handle basic tasks, Cline can handle more complex software development processes, thereby significantly boosting productivity.

Samsung plans to continue the beta trial until the end of this month, with the official version targeted to launch next month.

As part of its transformation into an AI-based company, Samsung has also formed a special AI productivity innovation group within its DX division.

This new group serves as the central control center, overseeing the development of AI infrastructure and systems across the company, while also supporting the implementation of AI tools across business divisions.
