Minister Of Communication And Digital: Digital Infrastructure Is A Key Prerequisite For AI Adoption

Minister of Communication and Digital (Menkomdigi) Meutya Hafid stated that the presence of digital infrastructure is the main prerequisite for the use of artificial intelligence (AI) technology. 

Therefore, Menkomdigi in the HIPMI x MVT Connect 2025 forum in Makassar, South Sulawesi, Monday, invited industry players to support the provision of internet access facilities in the Eastern Indonesia region. 

"This is the basic capital for digitalization and then embracing or accepting artificial intelligence, without this AI will not be possible because we do not have connectivity," he said. 

If connectivity in all regions is adequate, he said, then AI technology can be utilized to present solutions in various fields. 

AI technology is currently being used to support business operations, the gaming industry, and the provision of health and education services. 

Menkomdigi gave an example, AI technology has been widely used to increase the effectiveness of product marketing on digital platforms and to present an optimal visual experience in games. 

The government encourages the use of AI in the provision of public services and business operations. 

"Fisheries is also one of President Prabowo Subianto's concerns and we also want AI to be more involved in public services or government services. So this is what we have to push forward," said Meutya. 

She said that the government is committed to improving connectivity in eastern Indonesia in order to realize digital transformation throughout Indonesia. 

"If digital transformation goes well, we should no longer have 3T areas because they are penetrated by digitalization," she said.
