South Korean home appliance maker LG Electronics Inc will work with Saudi Arabia to develop heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) solutions for areas that frequently experience extreme heat. LG Electronics has decided to conduct a joint research project to develop HVAC technology that remains efficient and performs well even in extremely hot temperatures, according to company officials in a Yonhap report on Sunday (7/6). The collaboration involves Saudi Arabia's major home appliance company Shaker Group, as well as researchers from King Saud University in Riyadh and Pusan ??National University in Busan, South Korea. In this project, LG Electronics will provide commercial and household air conditioning systems for the Middle Eastern country, which will be installed and operated by Shaker Group. In more detail, the Korean company plans to test an artificial intelligence (AI)-based engine that can improve energy efficiency by automatically controlling air conditioners according to temperature. "This collaboration will be an opportunity for us to further strengthen our ability to provide HVAC solutions specifically designed for extremely hot areas," an LG Electronics official said. "We will continue to enhance technological competitiveness in the global HVAC market by systematically building research and development infrastructure for each climate zone," he said.
