Alumni ITB In Various Sectors Are Expected To Adapt To Changing Times

Tuesday, 17 Dec 2024

ITB alumni are encouraged to adapt to changing times to respond effectively to industry needs. This was stated by Dr. Djoko Siswanto during his keynote speech at the National Work Meeting (Rakernas) of the ITB Alumni Association (IA-ITB) on Saturday, December 14, 2024.

"ITB alumni are also expected to assist the upstream oil and gas industry in research and technology," said Djoko, who was recently appointed as the head of SKK Migas.

Additionally, the 1990 ITB Petroleum Engineering graduate expressed hope that alumni would not limit themselves to their specific fields of expertise.

"The strategic role of alumni needs to be maximized through a strong collaboration, as ITB alumni are spread across various key sectors, including technology, energy, education, and government, both domestically and internationally, which is a significant strength that we must coordinate effectively," emphasized Djoko.

He also expressed the IA-ITB's hope that alumni would support the national economic growth target of 8% through various sectors, urging them to be active and contribute innovative ideas.

During the event, which was also held online, IA-ITB Chairman Gembong Primadjaja stated that this year's Rakernas embraces the principles of coherence and adaptability.

"Adaptive capability is essential for ITB alumni to respond to the dynamics of changing times in social, technological, and economic aspects," he said. Gembong also revealed, "The main focus of the IA-ITB 2024 Rakernas is 'Constructing the Nation's Civilization.' Therefore, ITB alumni are encouraged to play a role in developing various aspects of national life, including social, cultural, economic, and technological."

The IA-ITB 2024 Rakernas will also feature a series of National Webinars discussing strategies and collaborations among academics, practitioners, and the government to achieve Indonesia's economic growth target of 8%, particularly in the maritime, investment, and employment sectors.

This webinar will discuss various opportunities and challenges in the maritime sector as a new economic driver for Indonesia. It will cover investment strategies to promote sustainable growth and employment initiatives to enhance the quality and quantity of the national workforce.

By inviting experts from diverse backgrounds, IA-ITB aims to facilitate a thorough and comprehensive discussion on concrete steps that stakeholders can take.

The target participants for the IA-ITB 2024 National Working Meeting come from various organizational structures of the ITB Alumni Association (IA-ITB). There will be 550 participants, including members from the Central Management and representatives from 28 Regional Management and 10 Overseas Management.

Additionally, the event will involve 27 Commission Managers and 37 Program Study, Faculty, or School Managers. This diversity of participants reflects the representation of ITB alumni from various fields and regions, enhancing the potential for collaboration to formulate strategic ideas to support national development.
