Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto arrived at the Bunga Raya Complex, Kuala Lumpur International Airport, Malaysia, on Thursday (January 9) at approximately 10:00 local time for a personal visit and lunch with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. During this personal visit, President Prabowo is scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim in Kuala Lumpur to discuss several strategic measures aimed at strengthening the bilateral relations between the two nations. "The plan is for the President to meet with the Malaysian Prime Minister. The two leaders will have lunch together and, of course, exchange views on both global conditions and the relationship between our countries," stated Yusuf Permana, Deputy for Protocol, Press, and Media at the Presidential Secretariat, in an official statement received in Jakarta on Thursday. President Prabowo departed from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in Jakarta at 07:00 WIB. Accompanying the President on the flight to Malaysia were Foreign Minister Sugiono and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya. This marks President Prabowo's first visit to Malaysia since assuming the presidency of the Republic of Indonesia. Previously, a meeting between Prabowo and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim took place in October 2024, following Prabowo's inauguration at the MPR/DPR/DPD RI building in Jakarta. At that time, President Prabowo received congratulations on his inauguration directly from Prime Minister Anwar, who was present in Jakarta. Earlier, the Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Wisma Putra) stated in a release issued in Putrajaya on Thursday that this working visit is the first by Prabowo as President of the Republic of Indonesia. The two leaders will discuss bilateral cooperation and explore new collaboration opportunities to enhance the relationship between their countries. Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim will also celebrate President Prabowo Subianto's working visit with a private luncheon.
