The Plan Of The Elected Regional Head Regarding The Budget Is Subject To Efficiency Measures

Wednesday, 19 Feb 2025

The government has implemented a budget efficiency policy aimed at achieving savings. Elected regional leaders have already prepared their plans in light of this efficiency initiative.

As is well known, President Prabowo Subianto has urged ministries, agencies, and local governments to reduce ceremonial activities and official travel. This directive is outlined in Presidential Instruction Number 1 of 2025, signed on January 22, 2025. There are seven points of instruction from Prabowo concerning budget efficiency.

One of the key points includes an instruction for a budget efficiency in the state expenditure for 2025 amounting to IDR 306 trillion. This budget comprises IDR 256.1 trillion allocated for ministries and agencies, and IDR 50.5 trillion designated for transfers to regions.

This budget efficiency also impacts regional budgets, necessitating that local leaders devise strategies to ensure the continuity of governance.

However, some elected regional leaders have already formulated their plans. They communicated this after undergoing health checks at the Ministry of Home Affairs in Central Jakarta on Sunday, February 16, 2025.

The Campaign Promises Will Continue

The newly elected Governor of North Sumatra, Bobby Nasution, has affirmed that his campaign promises to the residents of North Sumatra will proceed despite budgetary efficiencies. Bobby indicated that he has already assessed and coordinated matters related to the budget.

"We have been coordinating throughout this period, and during my tenure as Mayor of Medan, I have consistently maintained coordination," Bobby stated after a meeting.

Bobby also mentioned that the Acting Governor of North Sumatra, Agus Fatoni, has engaged in discussions with him regarding budget efficiency. He noted that the local government is well-prepared for this transition.

"Recently, in discussions with the province, the Acting Governor has communicated about the efficiency measures, so we have prepared everything accordingly," Bobby explained.

Despite the budgetary efficiencies imposed by the central government, the son-in-law of the seventh President of Indonesia expressed that this policy will not hinder his commitments. Bobby assured that his campaign promises to the people of North Sumatra will continue. "They will proceed, and I guarantee they will be fulfilled," he asserted.
