Poor Economy In Early 2025 Could Trigger Reshuffle Of Ministers Of Economic Affairs

Trust Indonesia Research Director, Ahmad Fadhli believes that the news about the reshuffle in the Red and White Cabinet is just a rumor. Because until this statement was made, there has been no official statement from the closest circle of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, regarding the need to evaluate the government's task force in the economic sector. 

"However, regarding the indicators of the worsening economy in early 2025, it is actually enough reason to evaluate the Minister of Economic Affairs," Fadhli told inilah.com when contacted in Jakarta, Saturday (3/15/2025). 

The cause could be due to the fact that the economic indicators are worsening as felt by many parties. According to him, if this is the trigger for the reshuffle, maybe many parties want it. 

"However, can we replace Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani? In my opinion, this is very difficult to do. This is because the international community already considers Sri Mulyani as a symbol of the Indonesian economy itself," he said. 

Replacing Sri Mulyani in the midst of a worsening economic situation will only make the Indonesian economy even more chaotic. The reason is that Sri Mulyani's figure has made some investors and international economic actors believe in the credibility of the Indonesian government. 

"Suddenly replacing her will only worsen Indonesia's economic situation in the eyes of the international world. If they want to take a different economic landscape, from the beginning the Prabowo-Gibran government should have chosen another name for the Minister of Finance. So that the public understands, President Prabowo wants to choose a different economic path compared to the previous government," explained Fadhli. Not only that, Fadhli assessed that if the ministers in the economic sector were reshuffled, it would certainly have a big impact. 

"I am very sure the impact will be very big. Both negative and positive impacts. If we succeed in getting a figure like Sri Mulyani, the impact may be very good. But if the replacement figure for Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani is someone who is incompetent and was chosen only because of political connections, then get ready for the Indonesian market and economy to face an increasingly difficult bad situation," he said. President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto is widely rumored to be changing the structure of the Red and White Cabinet after the celebration of Eid al-Fitr 1446 Hijrah. No half measures, structural changes will be made to the economic squad such as Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati who is said to be replaced by Deputy Finance Minister, Thomas Djiwandono. While the Coordinating Minister for the Economy will be filled by Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, and Communication and Digital Minister Meutya Hafid will be replaced by her Deputy Minister, Angga Raka Prabowo.
