CEO Of Pertamina Geothermal Energy Wins Award At ISRA 2024

PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy Tbk (PGE) prioritizes the principles of social and environmental responsibility (TJSL). This commitment has been recognized by the Indonesia Social Responsibility Award (ISRA) 2024. ISRA awarded the Director of PGE, JulfiHadi, and the operations of the company with stock code PGEO in three geothermal working areas.

During the ISRA 2024 event, JulfiHadi was named as the Social Responsibility Person of the Year for his full commitment and role in reducing carbon emissions. He played a crucial role in integrating the clean development mechanism (CDM) into the Company's operations and achieving the Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction Certificate (SPE-GRK) from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry through the National Registry System for Climate Change Control (SRN-PPI) for the Lahendong Unit 5 and 6 Project activities.

Furthermore, PGE's Head Office, Kamojang, Ulubelu, and Lahendong Areas received a silver award for the Economic Empowerment category. Several TJSL programs by PGE in those working areas, such as Neng Elie, ElocBerseri, and MapalusTumompaso, have successfully provided positive impacts on the surrounding communities and environment with social return on investment (SROI) of 307%, 342%, and 181% respectively.

"With this award, PGE further solidifies its position as a world-class green energy company, and will eventually become the world center of geothermal excellence," said JulfiHadi in a press release received by Kontan.co.id on Thursday (4/7).

ISRA is an award event and knowledge dissemination platform for businesses that show commitment, effort, and actions to enhance community welfare through the company's TJSL programs.

JulfiHadi presented geothermal as an energy source with various advantages, especially as an environmentally friendly energy source. In addition, TJSL PGEO programs have brought positive impacts to the community and the environment. The company's programs have successfully benefited 24,543 people. Among them, vulnerable groups such as pregnant women, children with disabilities, unemployed youth, the elderly, underprivileged groups, coffee farmers, and female tailors have also benefited from the programs. Not only that, the company's programs have also contributed to environmental preservation. PGE has managed to reduce waste by 16.3 tons, cut emissions by 4,654.7 tons of CO2e per year, and planted over 68,000 trees. PGE has also made conservation efforts for 368 eagles and 29 yaki monkeys.
