Grab Indonesia has launched the Grab Tourism Safety & Security Center, a website that contains various complete information such as emergency contacts, lists of police stations & embassies, lists of hospitals, and a special 24-hour hotline for reports related to sexual violence on Wednesday (10/07).

In addition to Jakarta, the launch was also carried out simultaneously in eight other cities, namely Yogyakarta, Labuan Bajo, Medan, Batam, Surabaya, Bandung, Lombok, Manado. The website can be accessed through the Grab application and by visiting the link grb.to/pusatkeamananturisjakarta, which is available in Indonesian, English, Mandarin, Korean, and will be available in other foreign languages.

Heru Budi Hartono, the Deputy Governor of Jakarta, stated, "Jakarta as the largest metropolitan city in Indonesia has become a major destination for foreign and domestic tourists. Therefore, joint efforts need to be made to provide security and safety guarantees so that tourists can feel comfortable during their travels and enjoy the uniqueness of various tourist destinations."

Heru added that not only cultural and culinary tourism, Jakarta has also become a favorite destination for business tourism with tourist visits from January to May 2024 totaling 10,524,565 visitors.

"We appreciate Grab's initiative in providing the Tourism Safety & Security Center feature for tourists in Jakarta. With innovation that utilizes security and safety technology, we believe this will further provide comfort for tourists while in Jakarta. This is also in line with Jakarta's vision as a safe and tourist-friendly city."

In the same occasion, the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia, Sandiaga Uno, stated, "We witnessed the first time Grab launched the Tourist Safety and Security Center at the end of last year in Bali, and appreciate Grab's ongoing commitment to collaborate in strengthening the tourism sector by introducing this feature in various cities that are favorite tourist destinations. Enhancing safety and security, as well as ease of access to tourist destinations through transportation services, is key to building tourist trust.

This step will significantly contribute to accelerating the achievement of the target of 14.3 million foreign tourists and 1.25 - 1.5 billion domestic tourist movements in 2024."

Meanwhile, the Deputy for the Protection of Women's Rights, Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (KemenPPPA) of the Republic of Indonesia, RatnaSusianawati, also expressed appreciation for Grab's strategic step in innovating to expand the reach of the Tourist Safety and Security Center feature to various regions in Indonesia.

"The limited access to emergency contacts remains a barrier in controlling and preventing sexual violence. Therefore, the presence of this platform will greatly help raise public awareness of the protection of vulnerable groups; women and children. Moreover, the connection to SAPA 129 and the 24-hour hotline specifically for reports related to sexual violence available on this platform is a significant step in ensuring assistance can be accessed immediately whenever needed."

Kwok Fook Seng, the Singaporean Ambassador to Indonesia, appreciates Grab for creating a sense of security while strengthening the tourism sector. "I would like to congratulate Grab on this extraordinary initiative."
