The Ministry of Transportation has issued Circular Letter No. SE-MHB 3 of 2024 regarding the Prevention and Eradication of Online Gambling and All Other Forms of Gambling in the Ministry of Transportation environment. This is a follow-up to Presidential Decree Number 21 of 2024 concerning the Task Force for the Eradication of Online Gambling and aims to strengthen the integrity and professionalism of employees. This Circular Letter is addressed to Ministry of Transportation employees, including Civil Servants (ASN), Indonesian National Army Soldiers or Members of the Indonesian National Police assigned to the Ministry of Transportation environment, non-ASN government employees in the Ministry of Transportation environment, as well as students at Universities in the Ministry of Transportation environment. "The behavior of online gambling and all other forms of gambling can have an impact on the dignity, reputation, image, trust, and good name of the Ministry of Transportation. Therefore, a conducive work environment free from online gambling and all other forms of gambling is needed, which can cause a decrease in work productivity and disrupt the process of public service to the community," said Ministry of Transportation Spokesperson, Adita Irawati in Jakarta, Thursday (18/7). In this Circular Letter, Senior Officials, Middle-Level Officials, Heads of Technical Implementation Units, and University Leaders are asked to prioritize prevention of online gambling and all other forms of gambling in their respective work units. Prevention processes can be carried out by creating written prohibitions, closing access to gambling accounts, directly reprimanding gambling offenders, and conducting socialization about the risks and impacts of online gambling and other forms of gambling. Then the mitigation process was carried out through counseling and imposing sanctions on online gambling perpetrators and other gambling activities in accordance with applicable regulations. "For employees, disciplinary action may be taken up to termination of employment in accordance with Government Regulation Number 94 of 2021 concerning Employee Discipline and Government Regulation Number 49 of 2018 concerning Government Employees with Employment Agreements. For Non-Civil Servant Government Employees, sanctions are imposed in accordance with their employment agreements, while sanctions for trainees and students of the Ministry of Transportation's official schools are imposed up to dismissal in accordance with the provisions of the parenting pattern," concluded Adita.
