President Prabowo Subianto revealed Microsoft Founder Bill Gates' plan to visit Indonesia on Wednesday (7/5/2025) the day after tomorrow.

He said that Bill Gates had actually wanted to meet him for quite some time.

"On the 7th (May), the day after tomorrow, a world figure named Bill Gates will come to us, asking to meet me, he has been asking to meet me for quite some time, his letter has been since November asking to meet," said Prabowo in a Plenary Cabinet Session at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Monday, (5/5).

According to his explanation, Bill Gates wanted to meet him to discuss the free nutritious meal (MBG) program in the country.

"Among other things, he wanted to express his support and appreciation for our nutritious meal," he said.

Although he felt very proud regarding the award and support that Bill Gates would give, Prabowo admitted that the MBG program had not been completely successful.

This was because MBG had not yet targeted the 82.7 million Indonesians who were the beneficiaries of the program.

"I feel very big-hearted, but I feel like don't praise us, we haven't succeeded," he said.

"We will succeed, God willing, in December 2025, if we prove that we can deliver food every day to 82.9 million of our people in a clean, safe, nutritious condition, at that time we can accept congratulations," he added.

In addition to giving an award for MBG, Prabowo said that Bill Gates would also provide assistance to Indonesia.

However, he admitted that he did not yet know what assistance Bill Gates would provide.

"But because he wanted to come, I heard that he wanted to express solidarity with us, he even wanted to help us, I don't know what form it would take," he said.

Furthermore, he admitted that regardless of whether or not an award or assistance was given, for him the MBG program would continue.

"I only said that 'we are given assistance not given assistance, given an award not given an award', we are implementing this (MBG) because this is right, and this is an investment in our children," he said.

"And that we must reduce poverty among our people," he continued.
