Airlangga Reveals A Number Of Results Of The Prabowo-Albanese Meeting

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said that a number of agreements were successfully established during the meeting between President Prabowo Subianto and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta on Thursday. 

He said that in the meeting, Prabowo wanted an agreement in the economic, defense, and green energy sectors. 

"In addition, President Prabowo also wants to strengthen cooperation between ASEAN and Australia," explained Airlangga in Jakarta, Thursday. 

In the economic sector, Indonesia wants to re-evaluate the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) cooperation with Australia which has now entered its 5th year. 

Airlangga said that in the evaluation, the government will include strategic matters in the agreement, including the issue of critical mineral commodities. 

"Now our target is for the CEPA to include critical minerals in it," he said. 

The economy emphasized that since the CEPA agreement with Australia five years ago, investment in Indonesia has increased by almost 100 percent. 

The Indonesian government continues to target higher total trade with Australia with the updated CEPA agreement. 

The Coordinating Minister explained that Prabowo's meeting with Albanese also discussed the electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem. Airlangga said that Prabowo thanked PM Albanese because Australia helped develop the electric vehicle ecosystem in Indonesia. 

Currently, Indonesia has imported 80 thousand tons of lithium from Australia which is processed by the Industrial Estate in Morowali. RI-Australia see greater opportunities for the development of clean energy and green technology. 

In addition, the meeting also discussed Australia's support for Indonesia's accession to the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans Pacific Partnership (CPTTP) and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). 

"The current chair of CPTTP is Australia, and it also supports OECD accession. Furthermore, of course, in various sectors it will be translated by each interest," said Airlangga. 

The Prabowo-Albanese meeting also explored cooperation in the defense sector. In addition, the two leaders also agreed to strengthen cooperation in the agricultural and MSME sectors. 

In his speech, Prabowo stated that the government is ready to increase the capacity of farmers and ensure that fruit and fishery products meet international market standards, including Australia.
