Reflecting On 10 Years Of Joko Widodo's Government, Main Focus On Transportation Sector Development

During President Joko Widodo's 10-year term, infrastructure development has been the government's focus, including infrastructure for connectivity, basic services, food, energy, and industry. The head of state also emphasized that infrastructure development is not only about physical buildings, but also about the benefits that can be felt by the people.

President Joko Widodo conveyed this message during a discussion entitled "Reflection and Notes on 10 Years of Jokowi's Administration in the Construction, Infrastructure, and Investment Sectors" organized by Gapensi (the Indonesian National Construction Executing Association) in Jakarta on Wednesday (31/7).

"We know that through this infrastructure development, our world competitiveness ranking has risen from 34 to 27. Competitiveness is what we aim to achieve from the existing developments, in addition to utilizing infrastructure for the people," said President Jokowi on that occasion.

Meanwhile, during the same event, Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi, through a presentation on the 10-year performance of the transportation sector, expressed his ministry's commitment to implementing 3 main KPIs (Key Performance Indicators): Improving National Connectivity, Enhancing Service Quality, and Increasing Transportation Safety. All of these are oriented towards the principle of Indonesia Sentris as the embodiment of the state's presence for the people.

"The performance indicators of the Ministry of Transportation are in line with the President's message regarding infrastructure development that benefits the people. We also consistently follow the President's directives to ensure that the development and construction of transportation infrastructure can connect between regions and areas," said the Minister of Transportation.

The focus of development is to support the development of transportation infrastructure in remote, outermost, frontier, and border areas (3TP), support super priority tourism destinations (DPSP), support Industrial Zones (KI) and Special Economic Zones (KEK), as well as support regional economic growth.

Transportation infrastructure development in various regions, both in the western and eastern parts of Indonesia, is crucial to ensure connectivity between regions, even reaching remote mountainous areas," stated the Minister of Transportation.

Furthermore, the Minister of Transportation highlighted several achievements in transportation infrastructure development, including in the land, sea, air, and railway sectors.

In terms of land transportation, achievements include the development of ferry ports, ferry docks, urban public transportation with a buy the service program, as well as the implementation of mass public transportation systems in metropolitan areas.

In the maritime transportation sector, the Ministry of Transportation has built non-commercial ports, pioneer ships, sea toll subsidies, and created interconnected shipping routes. "We are constructing nationally standardized ports. And in line with the president's directive, the dwelling time at ports has now been reduced to just 3-4 days," continued the Minister of Transportation.

The aviation sector has achieved several milestones, including improving on-time flight performance, establishing air bridges, and building new airports.

Furthermore, achievements in the railway transportation sector include the construction of national railway lines, railway track conditions meeting Track Quality Index (TQI) standards of categories 1 and 2, as well as the development of LRT, MRT, Whoosh High-Speed Train, and pioneer trains.
