The Minister Of Transportation Appreciates The Collaboration Between State-owned Enterprises And Private Companies In Developing Mass Transportation Infrastructure

Monday, 14 Oct 2024

The Minister of Transportation, Budi Karya Sumadi, praised the collaboration between state-owned enterprises (BUMN) and private sectors to enhance public mass transportation infrastructure. He made this statement during the inauguration of the "Minimum Service Standard Improvement at Jurangmangu Station" in South Tangerang, Banten, on Saturday (12/10).

The Minister expressed hope that this partnership would boost service quality and comfort, encouraging more people to use urban mass transportation, especially the KRL Commuter Line.

"We definitely appreciate the improvements at Jurangmangu because as connectivity increases and comfort improves, interest in using urban mass transport will rise, leading to more visitors in Bintaro," the Minister explained.

The collaboration for the Minimum Service Standard (SPM) enhancement at Jurangmangu Station involves PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) and PT Jaya Real Property (JRP), the developer of the Bintaro Jaya area, with support from the Ministry of Transportation and the South Tangerang City Government.

The upgrades at Jurangmangu Station include adding escalators and lifts, renovating the station's facade, improving service facilities' interiors, reorganizing the parking area, and redesigning the main entrance. The Minister also encouraged similar collaborations in other areas, particularly to support transit-oriented development (TOD) zones.

"If there are opportunities at Sudimara Station or Rawabuntu, let's invite the private sector again to develop these stations as transportation hubs connected to economic activities and business centers," he added. Over the past decade, the government, through the Ministry of Transportation, has focused on developing transportation hubs, including TOD stations.

The goal is to enhance mobility efficiency, support economic growth around the stations, and reduce traffic congestion.

The President Director of PT KAI, Didiek Hartantyo, mentioned that the improvement in SPM is expected to add value, especially in service quality for the wider community, particularly for the customers using Jurangmangu Station.

"We hope that with this SPM enhancement, Jurangmangu Station will thrive alongside the development in Bintaro, which will boost public enthusiasm for using the train," he said.

Also present at the event were the Director General of Railways, Risal Wasal, the Acting Mayor of South Tangerang, Tabrani, and the Vice President Director of PT Pembangunan Jaya Realty, Hengky Wijaya.
