Friday, 08 Nov 2024

IPC Terminal Petikemas/IPC TPK provided sanitation assistance in the form of Biotech septic tanks to residents of RW 01, RW 05, and RW 08 in Papanggo, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta. This initiative aims to address the issue of open defecation in the community. On Wednesday, November 6, 2024, Pramestie Wulandary from IPC TPK symbolically handed over 11 Biotech septic tanks, each with a capacity of 1000 liters, to Tomi Haryono, the head of Papanggo, at the Papanggo office.

Pramestie Wulandary stated that this assistance is part of the environmental TJSL program for the area surrounding Tanjung Priok Port. The goal is to reduce environmental pollution and promote awareness of clean and healthy living, ultimately improving the quality of life for residents.

Tomi Haryono expressed gratitude to IPC TPK for the septic tank support for those in need. He said, "Thank you, IPC TPK, for helping to solve social issues in Papanggo. The beneficiaries of these septic tanks are 11 families, totaling about 40 people. We hope this will raise awareness about sanitation and eliminate the habit of open defecation in our community."

The program to eliminate open defecation for a Healthy City in Papanggo was launched in October 2024, with 22 families still practicing this behavior. To address this need, the Papanggo area received support from IPC TPK and BAZIS North Jakarta.

Previously, IPC TPK had organized TJSL programs in Papanggo, including driving skills training, hydroponic planting training, and creating a children's play area at the Papanggo office.

In 2023, there were 822 households in North Jakarta still practicing open defecation. The Papanggo area in North Jakarta faces challenges in stopping this behavior.

The local government has taken the initiative to hold a "Stop Open Defecation" declaration involving the community as part of the Healthy Living Community Movement. This event aims to raise awareness about sanitation and reduce open defecation practices by providing sanitation facilities and improving hygiene education in the community.
