Jerry From The Ministry Of Trade Is Pushing For Getas Crackers From Pangkalpinang To Be More Competitive On A Global Scale

Deputy Minister of Trade Jerry Sambuaga visited the cassava chip factory owned by micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) Duo Ayu Sehati in Pangkalpinang, Bangka Belitung Islands, today, Sunday (23/6). This visit was conducted to observe the progress, production, and facilities owned by the MSME as part of efforts to enhance the global competitiveness of Pangkalpinang cassava chips.

Also present were Member of Commission VII of the Indonesian House of Representatives Bambang Patijaya and Production Manager of Duo Ayu SehatiHendri. During this visit, Deputy Minister Jerry was accompanied by the Secretary of the Department of Industry and Trade (Disperindag) of Bangka Belitung Islands Province, Deki Susanto.

"I visited this cassava chip factory to directly see the progress, production, and facilities owned by MSME Duo Ayu Sehati in Pangkalpinang. Certainly, the Ministry of Trade is encouraging local products to be globally competitive so that they can be exported abroad," said Deputy Minister Jerry.

Deputy Minister Jerry revealed that locally exported products contribute positively to Indonesia's trade balance growth. Business owners must be optimistic that their products can develop and compete in the international market.

According to Deputy Minister Jerry, the government is also ready to promote Indonesian products abroad through 46 trade representatives (perwadag) worldwide. These representatives consist of 19 Indonesian Trade Promotion Centers (ITPC), 24 Trade Attachés (Atdag), Trade Consuls, Indonesian Trade and Economic Offices (KDEI), and ambassadors to the World Trade Organization (WTO).

"There are 46 trade representatives worldwide ready to facilitate business owners in exporting their products abroad. There are Trade Attachés placed in the capital cities and ITPCs assigned to trading cities. Indonesia also has 37 international trade agreements which, among other things, regulate import duties to destination countries. This can benefit business owners," explained Deputy Minister Jerry.

Hendri, the Production Manager of Duo Ayu Sehati, shared that Duo Ayu Sehati is one of the SMEs supported by the Bangka Belitung Provincial Government, with getas as its main product. In addition to getas, Duo Ayu Sehati also produces squid egg chips (kritcu), shrimp paste, powdered shrimp, shrimp and fish crackers, as well as fish meatballs. The production capacity reaches 35 tons per year.

Hendri mentioned that Duo Ayu Sehati has started exporting their getas products to Singapore since early 2024. Their getas products have been sent to Singapore four times until mid-year.

"So far, Duo Ayu Sehati products have been available in minimarkets, wholesalers, and retail stores in Bangka Belitung. Duo Ayu Sehati plans to gain wider recognition in the future. By increasing exports, Duo Ayu Sehati can be enjoyed not only in Bangka Belitung but also worldwide," added Hendri.

Hendri added that Duo Ayu Sehati products already have several certifications and legalities such as Household Food Industry (P-IRT), Food Inside (MD), Halal, and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP). In addition, Duo Ayu Sehati also has patents and ensures the production of safe food for consumption with the presence of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP).
