PGE Collaborates With Elnusa, PertaMC, And PGAS Solution To Achieve Clean Energy Transition

PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy Tbk (PGE) is actively collaborating with various parties to develop the potential of geothermal energy as the backbone of the national energy transition. Together with PT ElnusaTbk (Elnusa), PT PGAS Solution (PGASOL), and PT Pertamina Maintenance and Construction (PertaMC), PGE is implementing a Joint Study Agreement (JSA) to develop technological solutions, including opportunities for domestic production of key components for geothermal power plants.

The signing of the Geothermal Center of Excellence JSA, which took place on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at GrahaPertamina, Jakarta, was attended by the Director of Strategy, Portfolio, and Business Development of PT Pertamina (Persero) A. SalyadiSaputra, the President Director of Pertamina New and Renewable Energy (PNRE) John Anis, the President Director of PGE JulfiHadi, the Director of Finance of Elnusa Stanley Iriawan representing the President Director of Elnusa, the President Director of PGASOL Sabaruddin, and the President Director of PertaMC Andry Widiasti. The presence of the collaborating company's leaders in person demonstrates the importance of the JSA, which will facilitate discussions, studies, information exchange, and joint studies for the development of geothermal energy.

The Director of Strategy, Portfolio, and Business Development of PT Pertamina (Persero) A. SalyadiSaputra appreciates the strategic collaboration to realize the geothermal center of excellence as a provider of geothermal technology solutions in Indonesia. "This is a very strategic initiative for Pertamina, which has been managing geothermal energy in Indonesia for more than 40 years. This collaboration is expected to support PGE in achieving its vision of becoming a world-class green energy company with the largest geothermal capacity globally," said A. SalyadiSaputra.

The President Director of Pertamina New and Renewable Energy (PNRE) John Anis added that new and renewable energy, especially geothermal energy managed by PGE, is the future for Pertamina's business as well as Indonesia. The development of geothermal energy faces many challenges, and one of the solutions is to improve efficiency to remain competitive. Bringing a center of excellence to Indonesia will help PGE become more efficient in developing geothermal energy. PGE's CEO, JulfiHadi, explains that the signing of this JSA is a strategic step for PGE and its partners in optimizing the development of geothermal energy by utilizing domestic industry capabilities and technological expertise. "This initiative is an extraordinary effort that deserves appreciation because in the future, there will be innovations and various other collaborations to create a massive and integrated technology portfolio in renewable energy. We are optimistic about the great potential of geothermal energy as a driving force in accelerating the transition towards clean energy," said JulfiHadi.

This JSA includes, but is not limited to, joint studies related to the potential development of business portfolios, including: 1) heat exchanger manufacturers, 2) geothermal operation and maintenance services, 3) cooling tower manufacturers, and 4) EPCC and pipeline construction. Elnusa's CEO, BachtiarSoeriaAtmadja, expressed that the collaboration between Elnusa and PGE is not the first, and Elnusa welcomes and is ready to support and contribute to the development of the geothermal industry. "This synergy and collaboration reflect Elnusa's commitment to continue innovating and making meaningful contributions in the renewable energy sector, specifically in the Geothermal Center of Excellence," said Bachtiar.

PGASOL's CEO, Sabaruddin, also stated, "Energy conversion is a new task for all of us. Therefore, I highly appreciate the full benefits of this synergy. We will continue to be optimistic and provide support for the country in terms of innovation in the national energy transition, and one of them is through this joint study."
