According to the World Competitiveness Ranking (WCR) report for 2024 released by the International Institute for Management Development (IMD), Indonesia's competitiveness ranking has risen to 27th position in the world. This year, Indonesia's ranking has significantly increased by seven levels from its previous position, which was 34th in the world in 2023.For the Southeast Asian region, Indonesia is in the top three positions after Singapore and Thailand. The ranking conducted by the IMD is based on four criteria, namely economic performance, government efficiency, business efficiency, and infrastructure."The improvement in Indonesia's economic performance is certainly due to the role of increased competitiveness, especially in the industrial sector," said Andi Rizaldi, Head of the Standardization and Industrial Services Policy Agency (BSKJI) at the Ministry of Industry, during the Customer Meeting of the Center for Standardization and Industrial Services for Leather, Rubber, and Plastics (BBSPJIKKP) in Yogyakarta on Thursday (6/27).In efforts to boost industrial competitiveness, the role of the government, especially the support from the Ministry of Industry, is crucial, including in relation to standardization and industrial services. "Industrial services provide significant added value in addition to manufacturing and also play an important role in the development of the industrial sector," said Andi. These industrial services include providing support in the form of certification, testing, consultancy, mentoring, improving human resource competencies, maintenance services, engineering services, conformity assessment services, and other industrial services that contribute to increasing industrial output. The Head of BSKJI emphasized that the Ministry of Industry, through the Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) under the auspices of BSKJI, continues to innovate and improve the quality of industrial services. In addition, in order to improve managerial quality and service performance, BSKJI's work units are continuously encouraged to transform into Public Service Agencies (BLU). One of them is BBSPJIKKP Yogyakarta, which has transformed into a BLU on April 25, 2024.The transformation of BBSPJIKKP into BLU marks a milestone achievement towards providing industrial services with excellent service and supporting industry competitiveness," he said. Meanwhile, the Head of BBSPJIKKP Yogyakarta, HagungEkoPawoko, revealed that stakeholder synergy is crucial to support the improvement of industrial competitiveness. One of the steps to support the transformation into a BLU working unit is the organization of a Customer Meeting event with the theme "The BLUeprint of SPEEDy Service Transformation". SPEED itself stands for Synergy, Professional, Effective, Efficient, and Digital. In 2024, besides transforming into BLU, the Proficiency Testing Organizer of BBSPJIKKP Yogyakarta has obtained accreditation from KAN on March 19, 2024, and the Halal Inspection Agency (LPH) of BBSPJIKKP has also obtained the status as the Main LPH from the Ministry of Religious Affairs BPJPH on April 5, 2024."This certainly encourages BBSPJIKKP to improve its quality of services and supporting facilities," Hagung expressed. He added that in efforts to support industrial competitiveness, BBSPJIKKP continues to develop its services to keep up with the demands of the industrial world. Currently, BBSPJIKKP's services include 13 types of services such as testing, calibration, certification, training/consultation, professional certification, validation/verification of GRK and TKDN, inspection, mentoring and LSP, proficiency testing, technology audit, mini-plant for leather and rubber, and other technical services."The transformation into BLU and the availability of various services from BBSPJIKKP are good news for all industry players, proving the real role of the Ministry of Industry in meeting the needs of industrial development to realize an independent, competitive, and advanced industry as mandated by the law," he explained.
