PT Zurich General Takaful Indonesia (Zurich Syariah) has reported gross contribution income exceeding Rp1.4 billion from travel insurance products during the 2025 pilgrimage period. The President Director of PT Zurich General Takaful Indonesia, Hilman Simanjuntak, stated that this achievement reflects the high level of public trust in Sharia-based insurance protection, particularly for sacred pilgrimage journeys. "This growth reflects the public's confidence in Sharia-based protection, especially for sacred pilgrimage journeys such as Hajj and Umrah. Therefore, we are here to ensure the peace of the pilgrims during their travels through trustworthy, easily accessible protection solutions that comply with Islamic principles," Hilman said in an official statement in Jakarta on Tuesday. The Saudi Arabian government previously set the Hajj quota for Indonesia in 2025 at 221,000 individuals, making Indonesia the largest sending country for Hajj pilgrims in the world. This high interest has positively impacted the business performance of Zurich Syariah. In addition to Hajj travel, growth in contributions has also been recorded from Umrah travel insurance products. According to data from the Integrated Computerized Management System for Umrah and Special Hajj (SISKOPATUH) of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, the number of Umrah pilgrims from Indonesia reached 648,485 individuals by April 2025, an increase of 19 percent compared to the same period last year. In line with this, Zurich Syariah has recorded a gross contribution growth of over 30 percent from umrah travel insurance. Furthermore, Zurich Syariah is actively promoting integrated protection products that combine umrah travel with visits to neighboring countries of Saudi Arabia, such as Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, and Morocco. With coverage of up to Rp500 million, customers can benefit from medical and emergency expenses, trip cancellation and changes, baggage and personal belongings guarantees, personal accident coverage, and repatriation of remains. "The pilgrimage of hajj and umrah is not merely a physical journey, but also a spiritual one. We aim to be part of the peace of mind for the pilgrims, through comprehensive protection designed in accordance with Islamic values," said Hilman.
