Celebrating 140 years of operation in Indonesia, PT Bank HSBC Indonesia ("HSBC Indonesia") is strengthening its position as an international bank with the largest global network through various solutions and innovative services to customers in Indonesia. As part of its 140th anniversary celebration in Indonesia, HSBC collaborated with mural artist Arnis Muhammad to depict the long history of HSBC in a mural artwork installed at the HSBC Indonesia branch office in the World Trade Centre. The long journey of HSBC Indonesia's history is reflected in Arnis Muhammad's mural artwork, a talented young artist from Aceh. Embracing his signature style of the Lungkee Fish, Arnis specially designed a mural depicting the journey and contributions of HSBC in the Indonesian banking market since its establishment in 1884, narrating HSBC's business journey through various eras. The mural showcases the transition from black and white to colorful, symbolizing HSBC's service transformation as an international bank that consistently supports the Indonesian economy and evolves with the changing times. Arnis combines elements of Indonesian nature and the traditional Batik Mega Mendung pattern. The beautiful fusion of local elements with futuristic elements depicts HSBC's long history in Indonesia, from supporting the sugar trade to future business growth supported by digital innovation. "The milestone of HSBC's history began with financing the sugar trade in Batavia in 1884, and has now grown into a bank with a large global network in Indonesia, serving various needs of corporate and individual customers. Indonesia is an important market as it dominates 36% of ASEAN and is the 16th largest economy in the world. The potential for Indonesia's economic growth, from the electric vehicle ecosystem to the digital economy, is attractive to global investors, and HSBC will continue to commit to supporting trade and investment activities towards Indonesia." Francois de Maricourt, HSBC Indonesia's President Director, mentioned. HSBC is targeting optimal growth through expertise in global connectivity and digital innovation. With a network in more than 60 countries covering over 90% of global trade, HSBC focuses on facilitating foreign investment into Indonesia and connecting local companies to global markets.
