The Trade and Economic Office (KDEI) in Taipei, Taiwan, recently facilitated the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Indonesian company PT Narofel Unggul Energy and Taiwanese firm OMNI Neo Tech Inc. This signing took place on Thursday, August 22, at the Indonesia Exhibition Center, located at the KDEI Taipei office, with Iqbal S. Shofwan, the head of KDEI Taipei, present to witness the event. The MoU aims to foster investment collaboration and business models in the forestry sector between the two companies. Iqbal highlighted that this investment and business model is designed to support mitigation efforts in achieving greenhouse gas emission reduction targets. These targets are outlined in Indonesia’s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) and the Folu Net Sink 2030 initiative. “The MoU between PT Narofel Unggul Energy and OMNI Neo Tech Inc. aligns with the Indonesian government’s vision of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2060. We hope this MoU will lead to a cooperation agreement that both parties can sign during the Trade Expo Indonesia in October 2024 at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) BSD in Tangerang,” Iqbal stated. The MoU was signed by Agung Gunarto, representing PT Narofel Unggul Energy, and Raymond Hsu, the CEO of OMNI Neo Tech Inc. Dwisuryo Indroyono Soesilo, the Chairman of the Indonesian Forestry Entrepreneurs Association (APHI), was also present to witness the signing. In his remarks, Dwisuryo welcomed the MoU as a significant step towards contributing positively to the environment, not just in Indonesia but globally. He expressed hope that this collaboration would aid in Indonesia's development. In addition to reducing greenhouse gas emissions in Indonesia, this MoU will also support national programs related to food and renewable energy.
